After an exciting day in our vibrant city, the rooms and suites at the Essex Inn provide the comfort and relaxation you'll need to unwind and rev up for another day! Many of our 254 guest accommodations have views of downtown Chicago, the lakefront and Grant Park across the street. With fifteen floors and floor-to-ceiling windows, there's plenty of sunshine and spectacular views all around.

Rooms are tastefully decorated with an Art Deco flare and framed art posters, many of them from the Art Institute's finest reproductions. As part of our family friendly atmosphere, there are no room charges for children 17 and younger occupying the same room as their parents. We offer four room types to choose from:

Standard Room Our standard rooms feature one queen size bed or two double beds. They're clean, cozy and come at an affordable price.

King Deluxe Room These spacious rooms offer spectacular views of Lake Michigan and Grant Park. The King size bed that comes with the room makes this a favorite choice for a romantic weekend getaway.

Double Suite Perfect for the traveling family, our Double Suite features one bedroom with two double beds, a separate living room with a queen size sleeper sofa, two televisions, and the option to connect to an adjoining King Deluxe room. Views range from the museum campus to the south and our own pool and garden on the fourth floor rooftop below.

King Suite The view will captivate you - fireworks at Navy Pier, the expansive blue of Lake Michigan, the steady stream of people in Grant Park and Millennium Park, and the colorful display at Buckingham Fountain. Inside this elegant suite you’ll be treated to a spacious living room complete with a table, a sleeper sofa, comfortable chairs and ottoman, two televisions, a king size bed in the bedroom, and famous prints from around the world.
